Stone Oak

Thought to be one of San Antonio’s most “visually appealing” areas, Stone Oak is a great spot for those who want to live in a beautiful area with close access to everything that North San Antonio has to offer.

Nestled between Loop 1604 and U.S. 281, Stone Oak can be found on the north side of San Antonio. Stone Oak has easy access to downtown San Antonio as well as New Braunfels, Seguin and Austin.

Stone Oak is made up of 30 individual neighborhoods, many of them comprising of gated communities with 24-hour security. The streets of Stone Oak are well manicured with plenty of trees lining the walkways.

Homes start in the mid $200s, with some price tags in the millions. Stone Oak is a great place to raise a family, 46 percent of households have children and there are plenty of family-fun activities to satisfy all ages!

Though Stone Oak has a booming population of 45,000, it is one of San Antonio’s newer areas. Stone Oak was started in 1985 by a group of developers led by Dan Parnam. The developers decided to first build a golf course and country club to attract builders to the area to create subdivisions around the golf course. And it worked, Stone Oak quickly started to thrive, and Stone Oak is now a booming hub for entertainment and leisure. In 2008, Stone Oak was turned over to the citizens and the first Board of Directors was appointed.

Today, Stone Oak is home to the Canyon Springs Golf Club and the Club at Sonterra Golf and Country Club. But, if golf isn’t your game, Stone Oak has plenty to offer its residents. Stone Oak is close to the Natural Bridge Caverns, Stone Oak Park, Panther Springs Park and Eisenhauer Park for those who want to enjoy nature, and some of the best hiking in San Antonio. Or take a short drive from Stone Oak and visit the shops at The Rim, La Cantera or the Village at Stone Oak. Stone Oak residents are also only a stone’s throw away from the Alamo Draft House for a luxurious movie experience, TPC San Antonio Resort for a relaxing spa day or Six Flags to entertain the kids.

Stone Oak is a great place for families! Most of Stone Oak is within the Northeast Independent School District, with some areas served by Comal Independent School District. In Stone Oak, there are five elementary schools, three middle schools and two high schools. NEISD is one of the top school districts in the area with a 93 percent graduation rate.

Stone Oak is also perfect for military families; it is located right next to Joint Base San Antonio-Camp Bullis. The other military bases in San Antonio aren’t far from Stone Oak, Joint Base San Antonio Randolph is only about a 30-minute drive down Loop 1604 and Lackland Air Force Base is also about 30 minutes away from Stone Oak.
