For other parts of the country as fall rolls in, cool temperatures start to drive people inside as a crispness settles into the air. But, here in South Texas, the seasons may change but our “cool” weather is still in the 80’s which means we can enjoy the beautiful outdoors for a little bit longer.
Fall is definitely the best time of the year to try out the rooftop bars around town because the blistering summer temperatures are gone, but the cold weather won’t give you a chill as you sit high in the sky sipping on a cocktail (or two).
Many of the best rooftop bars in the city are located near downtown as the various hotels and restaurants offer some spectacular sights of San Antonio and its iconic landmarks. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, it is a great excuse to admire the beauty of San Antonio.
These are some of our favorite rooftop bars to visit:
The Moon’s Daughter- This is one of San Antonio’s newer rooftop bars and it is spectacular. Seated right in the heart of downtown at the top of the Thompson Hotel, The Moon’s Daughter gives beautiful views of San Antonio. Coupled with its upscale vibes, grabbing drinks here will make you feel over the moon.
Fairmont Rooftop Oyster Bar- A classic in the upscale San Antonio foodie scene, the Fairmont Rooftop Oyster Bar is another luxury high rise. A perfect spot to grab some happy hour oysters and a fancy cocktail, Fairmont also gives you stunning views of downtown San Antonio.
Bar America- A local’s favorite spot, Bar America is only two stories but the rooftop opens up with a magnificent view of Hemisfair. It is situated downtown so you get a nice cityscape to gaze on as you sip on some of the dozens of draft beers that they have on tap. Though be warned, this is a nice rooftop but it is small so you may be a little squeezed together if it is crowded.
Ocho- It wouldn’t be San Antonio without the RiverWalk and Ocho has one of the best rooftop bars that sits right on the river. With a Latin-inspired menu, Ocho is a great place to grab a drink, have a bite and enjoy the views. And the best part about Ocho is that you don’t have to be on the roof for some river-views, their main seating area has a giant glass observatory.
TopGolf- Don’t fret, this one isn’t just for those who want to go swing some clubs. TopGolf has a full bar and food menu to enjoy on their rooftop bar as you gaze across the North Side’s rolling hills. It is a great option whether you are waiting for your golf deck or just want to try something new for a drink with a view.
Otro- While technically not on a roof, Otro is an open-air terrace in the River Walk’s Hilton hotel. The bar opens up to a gorgeous view of the River Walk so you can sip on their agave cocktails in style. You can choose to sit at the bar top or one of the cushy lounge chairs as you watch the river flow.
